Phew! It’s been a busy month. As you will have hopefully already seen, Media Molecule announced the final nominees in the 2011 Sackademy Awards on Thursday and along with them, a set of videos showcasing some of the best creations the LittleBigPlanet community has given us this year. Well, those videos are the reason Rocket Cheetah has been so quiet for the past month and a half. So, sorry about that. Either you forgive me and you’re awesome or you don’t forgive me and you aren’t reading this anyway, so I won’t go on about it. Instead, let’s get right back to our regularly scheduled blogging, starting with a bumper edition of This
Week Month in LittleBigPlanet.
Media Molecule Cranking Out the Podcasts
If you haven’t been keeping an eye out for Media Molecule’s podcasts since the last edition of TWiLBP you’ve missed all sorts weird and random discussions. These include; Dog poo DNA, new years resolutions, injuries, daytime fireworks, Burns Night, extra-terrestrial life and tiling… It’s more entertaining than it sounds, trust me. Kenny’s also been hard at work revamping the format including whizzy sound effects and jingles.

It’s a Game Thing… Almost
Trollcat Productions, creators of one of the funniest LittleBigPlanet machinima series on earth, have been a bit quiet of late (not that I’m one to talk). But in mid-January signs of life emerged in the form of a teaser trailer for the upcoming episodes four and five of Game Thing. It’s Metal Gear Solid-inspired with the obligatory dose of LBP and Trollcat ridiculousness and I can’t wait to see more.

Trailer Task Results
Back in November StevenI launched a competition and asked the community to create a trailer for the LittleBigPlanet Wiki. Well the results are now in and the winner has been revealed. Head over to the LittleBigWorkshop to find out who won and if you haven’t played the levels yourself yet, LBP2 Blog has videos of the winning entry (whose creator has earned themselves a crown) and some more honourable mentions.

LBP Central’s Community Spotlights are Now Even Cooler
For a long time LittleBigPlanet Central’s Community Spotlight feature has been one of the best places to go to find quality LittleBigPlanet levels, but over the past few weeks some fresh blood has joined the team and some changes have been made to make the Spotlights even better. You can now also visit their in-game hub for links to all the levels and they’ll even appear in the LBP News feed so you can find them there!

DLC: The Muppets Level Kit
In case you somehow managed to miss it, the Muppets level kit was released last month! With it came a set of brand new levels and minigames along with new materials, stickers and objects and a new feature: The Attract-O-Gel and tweaker, which allows you to add a gravitational field to any object! StevenI has also uncovered some bonus costumes available in the pack which you might not know about. Check them out here.

LBPC Contest #7: It’s Showtime
The latest LittleBigPlanet Central contest has launched. For this one you’re really going to have to put on a show – I mean really. The challenge this time is to create “the biggest, most insane, jawdropping show in Craftworld”. Break out the glitter, lights and fancy costumes to build a show that the LBP community can actually be a part of – no cutscene levels! I’m looking-forward to checking out the entries from this one!

LittleBigKitsune Issues #9 and #10
The uber-talented xkappax has posted two new issues of her LittleBigPlanet comic, LittleBigKitsune, over on LittleBigPlanetarium. I’ve been a fan of Sara’s work for while now and I’m ecstatic to see the return of Kitsune and her adventures after a few months off. In the latest two issues, follow Kitsune in her quest to cuncoct LBP ‘Awesomesauce’. Brilliant stuff!

Vita Flavoured Game Jam Happens, Information Overload Ensues
Earlier this month Tarsier Studios held a game jam for their upcoming LittleBigPlanet Vita game. It was an amazing event if the Twitter feeds are anything to go by. Over the following days the attendees posted their write-ups of the event and it soon became clear that LBP Vita is set to be a true LittleBigPlanet 2 sequel. Unphysicalising, in-level save games, rain material, invisible material, level achievements, decoration spinners… Wow!
Mm Trophy Cabenet Set for Another Upgrade
Coincidentally, the day before Media Molecule announced the nominees in their own award show, BAFTA announced that LittleBigPlanet 2 was up for six gongs in this year’s Video Games Awards. Like the first game, LBP 2 has proved popular with the judges, securing it’s spot in several categories including Artistic Achievement, Family, and Game Innovation. You can watch the awards live here on Rocket Cheetah on 16th March.

Cast Your Votes in the 2011 Sackies!
As previously mentioned, it’s time to vote in the 2011 Sackademy Awards. It’s been a truly astonishing first year in LittleBigPlanet 2 with the community building all manner of incredible things from the awe-inspiring to the heart-stopping, from the weird to the adorable. I could say that every member of the LBP community deserves award, but that would be cheesy (and a lie), so instead I’ll just say well done and good luck to all the nominees. Still cheesy?

SpeedCreate Continues at a Steady Pace
I mentioned in my post a few weeks ago that you should be watching Mnniska’s SpeedCreate videos – you have been watching them, right? Well, the crazy Swede has been continuing to release the fascinating videos since and has also started a SpeedPlay series. The videos are always thoroughly entertaining and are a brilliant insight into the mind of one of LittleBigPlanet’s most talented Creators.

Load of LittleBigPodcast
There’s been plenty going-on around the LIttleBigPodcast this month. As well as posting a complete playthrough of the Muppets Level Kit, Daniel also had a chat with LBP2Blog’s Tyler Stewart about LittleBigPlanet Karting. All of that’s on top of the usual weekly helping of LittleBigPlanet news and level picks. Vist them on YouTube to catch-up with any episodes you might have missed

Well, I think that about wraps it up. This Week in LittleBigPlanet will return to it’s usual schedule next week so if you’ve got anything to share, fire a Tweet at @RocketCheetah or leave a comment on Facebook or Google Plus. I’ll also be back to posting LittleBigPlanet videos next week so if you know of any amazing creations which aren’t getting the attention they deserve please use the level suggestion page to tell me about it.
